In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(Luftwaffe Bergmütze für Offiziere). A rare and well-preserved Luftwaffe Bergmütze (Mountain Cap), constructed of dark grey wool with a fine whipcord weave. The cap is surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped toward the front, which provide optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels roll up and fasten in position with a single pebbled zink button which emanates from the right panel and meets a reinforced buttonhole perforated into the left. A length of silver aluminum wire piping trims the outer edge of the crown. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a dark grey wool backer bearing a hand-embroidered silver aluminum wire Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 40 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the front also features a tri-colour cockade measuring 23 mm in diameter, and executed in multi-coloured wire with a red wool centrepiece. A protruding visor completes the exterior features, and consists of a rigid card stock core lined in identical whipcord wool cloth. A multi-piece slate-grey rayon liner encompasses the interior, with an intact length of stitching near the front maintaining the cap’s high and narrow peak. A wide dark brown leather sweatband surrounds the side whiles, while the crown retains a fully-intact transparent plastic rhomboid moisture guard. The latter bears a maker’s mark of “LITTO-MÜTZE, WINE” for the former firm of Littomericzky, while a white paper label inserted into the guard bears a typewritten owner’s name of “DR. MED. GÜNTHER SEHR”, above a handwritten rank of “OBERARZT”. The cap measures approximately 21 cm (w) x 25.5 cm (l) x 15 cm (h). Hand-stitched repairs are visible to the back half of the sweatband in a clear break with the front half’s original zig-zag stitching, but the cap demonstrates not other notable damage or wear and is a scarce example of a named Bergmütze to a Luftwaffe Medical Officer in extremely fine condition.
