In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(Kriegsmarine Tellermütze für die Martineartillerie). A well-preserved Kriegsmarine blue sailor’s cap (also known as a “Donald Duck” cap), constructed of dark navy blue wool with a subtle whipcord weave. The cap is fully surrounded by reinforced side walls, liner on the exterior with a black rayon tally ribbon bearing a machine-embroidered gold bullion wire inscription of “1. MARINEARTILLERIEABTEILUNG 1.”, indicating issue to coastal artillery personnel. Pinned onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a gilded aluminum Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. Measuring 52 mm (w) x 23 mm (h), the eagle retains its original singular reverse prong, and is maker marked with the logo of F.W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid. Directly below the eagle, the cap is pinned with a tri-colour cockade, constructed of aluminum with a red wool centrepiece, measuring 23 mm in diameter. A brown leather sweatband surrounds the interior of the side walls, while a dark blue rayon liner fully encompasses the interior. A black ink size mark of “57” is faintly visible on the crown. Otherwise unmarked, the cap measures approximately 25 cm in diameter. Demonstrating minor material fatigue consistent with age and field use, this sailor’s cap remains in a near extremely fine condition.
