In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(Luftwaffe Schiffchen für Offiziere). A field-converted Luftwaffe Officer’s overseas field cap, constructed of dark grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls, sloping toward the front, which are topped by a length of silver aluminum wire piping secured in place with hand stitching. The peak features an insignia in the form of a dark grey wool backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Luftwaffe eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, which measures 70 mm (w) x 45 mm (h) and demonstrates the remnants of a silver paint to reflect the cap’s upgraded rank. Directly below the eagle, the front of the wall also bears a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade, measuring 22 mm in diameter and similarly showing remnants of silver paint. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece grey cotton/rayon blended cloth liner, which is unmarked with the exception of hand-stitched presumed owner’s initials “H.H.”. Measuring 28.5 cm (w) x 13 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface, the cap demonstrates issues consistent with age and field wear, including moderate material fatigue and mothing throughout the wool base, deterioration of the insignia, and soiling of the interior liner. Demonstrating the hallmarks of late-war (1944-1945) field conversion, this storied and upgraded cap remains in very fine condition.
