Germany, Luftwaffe. A Field "Bunker" Lantern

(Luftwaffe Kerzenlaterne). A Luftwaffe field lantern, constructed of a silver-grey painted aluminum frame, the sides featuring four opaque glass panels situated under crossed aluminum bars, topped by a rounded swivel dome perforated with eyelets to allow heat and smoke to ventilate, in turn flanked by loops accommodating a suspension clip, one side panel opening with a functional sliding lock to reveal a hollow interior featuring a candle slot, the base featuring four circular feet at each corner for tabletop use, stamped with a Luftwaffe Flieger-Unterkunfts-Verwaltung (Flight Barracks Administration) insignia, an unidentified manufacturer’s logo, and a date of “41”, measuring 12.5 cm (w) x 12.5 cm (l) x 18 cm (h), demonstrating loss of finish to the base metal and the dislodging of one glass panel, a field-used example in very fine condition.
