Germany, Ordnungspolziei. A Promotion Document to Oberst Ernst Schmedding, German Cross in Gold Recipient, with Heinrich Himmler Signature

(Vorschlag zur Ernennung mit Reichsführer-SS Unterschrift). Constructed of off-white paper stock with multi-coloured ink, consisting of a preliminary promotion document elevating Ernst Schmedding from Oberstleutnant to Oberst, featuring double-sided, point-form, typewritten biographical and service records for Schmedding, dated 1 August 1944 and certified by the handwritten signature of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler, with a Chancellery receipt stamp of 5 August 1944, measuring 21 cm (w) x 29.5 cm (h), perforated with four holes consistent with previous binder storage, a document bearing an historically-significant signature in extremely fine condition.

Footnote: Personnel records indicate that Oberst der Schutzpolizei Ernst Schmedding was later promoted to SS-Oberführer while serving as an artillery commander with  IX. SS-Gebirgs-Armeekorps, and received the German Cross in Gold on 22 January 1945.
