(Luftwaffe Wehrpaß mit Verleihungsurkunde). Constructed of a field-grey card stock binding with 54 paginated interior pages lightly filled with stamped and handwritten entries, named to “KURT SCHOLZ”, retaining a certified studio portrait of the owner, accompanied by an award document for the Pilot’s Badge, named to Scholz as a Gefreiter and dated 14 May 1943, also accompanied by typed and handwritten letters to Kurt’s father from a Hauptmann and Leutnant indicating that Scholz was killed in combat over France on 14 October 1943 and expressing condolences, demonstrating minor material fatigue overall, in near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Kurt Scholz was born on 27 May 1921 in Köln (Cologne), Germany to parents Arthur and Anna (née Lammerich). He entered military service in 1941 with Flieger-Ausbildungs-Bataillon 63 (Eger), and later attended a variety of training schools and courses, including Flugzeugführerschule A/B 121, before being assigned to Jagdgeschwader 107 (Essey-lès-Nancy, France) on 7 May 1943. He received the Pilot’s Badge on 14 May 1943 (with an entry in the Wehrpaß confirming the award document), after being promoted to Unteroffizier on 1 May 1943. Scholz was killed in action during aerial combat with Allied forces over occupied France, and is buried in the German War Cemetery in Andilly.
