(Luftwaffe Verleihungsurkunden). A lot of award and memorial documents to Unteroffizier Wilhelm “Willi” Hemeter, a decorated Luftwaffe reconnaissance pilot who was killed in action on 26 June 1944, including:
1. One for Luftwaffe Reconnaissance Clasp, Bronze Grade, named to Hemeter as an Unteroffizier of Nahaufklärngsstaffel 3/11, dated 8 June 1943 and certified by the handwritten signature of Major Horst Barsikow, measuring 15 cm (w) x 21.5 cm (h), demonstrating minor soiling and a single folding line, in better than very fine condition.
2. One for the Luftwaffe Fighter Clasp, Silver Grade, named to Hemeter as an Unteroffizier, dated 29 October 1943 and certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Major and Wing Commander, measuring 15 cm (w) x 21 cm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
3. A unique field-made award document for the 1939 Iron Cross I Class, constructed of off-white paper stock with hand-written black ink, named to Hemeter as an Unteroffizier, dated 14 June 1944 and certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Leutnant and Squadron Commander of Aufklärungsstaffel 3. (F), the reverse bearing a handwritten addendum indicating that the document is a replacement for Hemeter’s original example which was destroyed during enemy actions, dated 21 December 1944, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), a rare and fascinating example in extremely fine condition.
4. A cancellation pass for Hemeter’s Wehrpass which has been returned to his mother, Wilhelmine Hemeter, a resident of Munich, dated 29 July 1944 and certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Hauptmann, measuring 15 cm (w) x 21 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
5. A handcrafted memorial letter to Hemeter’s mother from Gerhard Stengel, constructed of off-white paper stock with black ink, the cover bearing a black ink sketched memorial with Hemeter’s name and dates of birth and death, followed by an excerpt of lyrics from “Ich hatt’ einen Kameraden”, in turn followed by a length handwritten letter, dated 28 July 1944, measuring 21 cm (w) x 30 mm (h), demonstrating soiling and a folding line, an interesting tribute in very fine condition.
Footnote: According to records, Hemeter is also entitled to the Eastern Front Medal (awarded 10 August 1942) 1939 Iron Cross II Class (awarded 5 July 1943).
