Description
(Luftwaffe Wehrpaß). Constructed of a card stock binding with 52 paginated interior pages with filled handwritten and stamped entries, named to “KURT LANG”, who saw service with the Luftwaffe on construction and flak duties, primarily in Norway, retaining a certified studio portrait of Lang, also including a French-issue prisoner-of-war form and wartime obituary for his brother, Helmut, also a Luftwaffe servieman who died on 31 March 1944, the Wehrpass measuring 10.5 cm (w) x 15 cm (h), demonstrating minor and age-appropriate material fatigue, in near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Helmet Lang was born on 13 May 1913 in Treuen, Saxony. Married and with two children, Lang entered Wehrmacht service in 1940 with the Luftwaffe, and was initially posted to 3. Kompanie, Luftwaffe-Bau-Bataillon 7. He went on to service with a number of Luftwaffe construction units before being transferred to 3. Batterie, Flakabteilung 782, serving primarily in Norway and the North Sea districts. He was trained on a number of weapons, including the Karabiner 98k rifle, MP 40 submachine gun, Luger 08 pistol, Panzerfaust, and notably the Danish Madsen machine gun. He saw numerous promotions, including Gefreiter (1 April 1941), Obergefreiter (1 September 1942), Unteroffizier (1 October 1942), and Unteroffizier der Reserve (1 May 1943). He received the War Merit Cross II Class in July 1941. Lang survived the war and was briefly taken into French captivity.
