A collection of documents belonging to Gefreiter (Lance Corporal) Alfons Zobel, including a Card of Capture for Prisoners of War, completed in black ink, addressed to Frau Irma Zobel regarding Gefreiter Alfons Zobel (b. 25 September 1909), dated 5 October 1944, including his POW No. 31G 535154, measuring 14.6 cm (w) x 10.6 cm (h), and in near very fine condition.
An identification paper issued at US Army PWIB France, dated 11 November 1944, processed at C.C.E. #10 Br. #1, the reverse presents handwriting in pencil stating Honeybourne, Gloucestershire, Great Britain, as well as T34 Zone Dora Dromersheim, measuring 9.7 cm (w) x 13.9 cm (h), displays a folding crease and fraying edges, and in good condition.
An ID Card for Josef Zobel (b. 9 April 1886), certifying that he was a member of the NSDAP, or one of their organizations, dated 1 January 1946, measuring 14.5 cm (w) x 10.4 cm (h), and in good condition.
A Temporary Registration with the Military Government in Germany for Irma Zobel, dated 23 October 1945, measuring 20.9 cm (w) x 14.9 cm (h), presenting a folding crease and frayed edges, and in good condition.
A Temporary Registration with the Military Government in Germany for Afons Zobel, dated 23 October 1945, measuring 20.7 cm (w) x 14.9 cm (h), presenting a folding crease and frayed edges, and in good condition.
A Hessen-Pflaz Arbeitskarte (Work Card) issued to Alfons Zobel on 3 April 1946 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, with French and German language, measuring 10.4 cm (w) x 15 cm (h), and in good condition.
An ID Card issued to Alfons Zobel as an employee of the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein, dated 23 July 1947, constructed of green cardstock, including a black-and-white photograph of Zobel stapled to the reverse, measuring 9 cm (w) x 13 cm (h), and in near very fine condition.
A Social Democratic Party of Germany membership card issued to Alfons Zobel, dated 1946. A Social Democratic Party of Germany membership card issued to Alfons Zobel, dated 1947 to 1949. A Social Democratic Party of Germany membership book issued to Alfons Zobel, with stamps datings from 1964 through to 1986, measuring 10.2 cm (w) x 14.7 cm (h), and in very fine condition.
A German Trade Union Confederation membership book, belonging to Alfons Zobel, including stamps dated from 1950 through to 1973, constructed of hard, green cardstock, measuring 10.6 cm (w) x 15.2 cm (h), and in near very fine condition.
A contract for Evangelical child education, dated 15 October 1938, signed in black ink, 20.8 cm (w) x 6.8 cm (h), displays a folding crease, and in near very fine condition
A certificate for fare reduction, issued to Irma Zobel on 4 July 1942, with a black-and-white photograph of Zobel stapled to the paper, measuring 14.8 cm (w) x 10.4 cm (h), displays fraying edges, and in good condition.
Footnote: Gefreiter (Lance Corporal) Alfons Zobel was born on 25 September 1909 in Ludwigshafen. He married Irma, a gardener, and they welcomed a daughter named Margot on 11 September 1943. In October of 1944, the United States Army captured Zobel and he became a Prisoner of War after being processed at the U.S. Army - Prisoner of War Information Bureau in France. Zobel’s internment serial number was 31G 535154 LAB.
