Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Cruiser Emden Commemorative Album, with Prewar and Wartime Photographs

An extremely well-preserved Cruiser Emden commemorative album, constructed of a heavy card stock binding with a faux brown leather exterior liner, the cover bearing a gilded and finely-detailed depiction of the ship in profile, topped by an inscription of ‘DIENSTERINNERUNGEN UND FAHRTEN MIT KREUZER „EMDEN“‘ (“SERVICE MEMORIES AND JOURNEY WITH CRUISER “EMDEN”), flanked by a coat of arms, the spine perforated with four holes reinforced with magnetic metal grommets through which is looped a drawstring which maintains the album’s structural integrity, the interior content consisting of 50 black card stock pages separated by fully-intact wax paper dividers to protect the images, unmarked, measuring 39.5 cm (w) x 28.5 cm (h), in extremely fine condition; accompanied by 86 black-and-white private photographs of various sizes, each depicting Kriegsmarine personnel and vessels (including the Emden), with images of sailors in uniform at sea and on land, with depictions of the Emden and other Kriegsmarine ships (including E-Boats), some bearing period handwritten captions on the reverse detailing the image, a fascinating primary account of prewar and wartime Kriegsmarine service in overall extremely fine condition.
