Description
A second war German “Verwundeten Abzeichen in Schwarz” award certificate to Grenadier Helmut Fricke of the 8th Grenadier Regiment 536. The certificate was issued on February 5th, 1944 in Bendorf for a single injury sustained on December 8th, 1943. It is signed by the Oberstabsartzt und Chefartz towards the bottom, with a stamp of the seal of his office on the bottom right courner. The document measures 209 mm x 151 mm, and is fully legible, with folds and some repair using sticky tape on the reverse, in overall better than fine condition.
Footnote: The 8th Grenadier Regiment 536 was established on October 15th, 1942. It saw action in the eastern campaign until it was completely destroyed in January 1943 in Stalingrad. It was re-established on February 19th, 1943 and saw action in Belgium and Northern France as part of the 9th Panzer Division. It was later moved to the eastern campaign and was completely destroyed in August 1944 in the Ukraine.
