In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
A certificate, measuring 238x314mm, with hanger, very fine condition with several minor tears and one substantial rip along the folding crease. Alfons Endres is awarded the Commencement of DutyBadge of the “Stahlhelm”, Bund der Frontsoldaten (Steel Helmet, League of Front Soldiers, Stahlhelm for short). Endres joined in 1922. The document is dated to Berlin on January 14, 1935. It carries a facsimile of the founder, Franz Seldte (1882–1947), and another facsimile of the national treasurer, Theodor Gruß.
The reverse holds official information regarding the award.
Footnote: The “Stahlhelm” was a paramilitary organization founded in 1918. It attracted former soldiers from the First War whose financial situation was unstable and who rejected the new democracy of the Weimar Republic. Because of its fundamentally monarchist character, the “Stahlhelm” was distrusted after Hitler’s rise to power. It was urged to merge with the SA, which largely happened in 1934. The remaining organization was finally outlawed by Hitler in 1935.
