In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(HJ Fahrtenmesser). An HJ member’s knife, measuring 26 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 14 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade which retains some factory-original sharpening to both the tip and lower edge. Acid etched onto the obverse of the blade is an inscription of “BLUT UND EHRE!” (“BLOOD AND HONOUR!” in cursive script. The reverse is maker marked with the classic “TIGER” logo of Lauterjung & Co., Solingen, with the ricasso also bearing a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M7/68” for the same manufacturer. The blade sits securely within a nickel-plated magnetic metal hilt with a hooked quillon and pommel, and with an intact blackened leather buffer pad covering the seam. Two pieces of pebbled black bakelite compose the handle grip, and are fastened in place with dual magnetic metal rivets. Inset into the obverse of the handle is an enameled HJ insignia measuring 15 mm (w) x 25 mm (l). Accompanying the knife is its original scabbard, constructed of a black painted magnetic metal shaft. Riveted to the reverse is a blackened leather strap, retaining a functional metal snap button, which is configured into a loop for belt suspension. Issues consistent with age, wear, and storage conditions are evident, and include some running marks and surface oxidation to the blade, minor loss of nickel plating is visible to the hilt (resulting in some surface oxidation), moderate loss of paint is visible to the scabbard (resulting in moderate surface oxidation throughout), with additional fatigue evident to the strap. This transitional example, reflecting a storied existence, remains in a very fine condition.
