Description
Description
(Ordnungspolizei Säbel für Männer/Unteroffizier). A well-preserved Ordnungspolizei Mounted Personnel EM/NCO’s sabre, measuring 1100 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 950 mm-long curved magnetic steel blade, with a sharpened tip and fuller running approximately two-thirds the length of each side. It sits securely within a one-piece nickel-plated alloy hilt featuring a crossguard and curved handguard, with the seam covered by an intact black leather buffer pad. Both the obverse and reverse of the crossguard feature rounded medallions, with the former retaining an Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of a bronzed oval oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The insignia measures 25 mm (w) x 22 mm (h), and retains one of its two original reverse attachment prongs. The handle grip is composed of a single piece of ribbed black celluloid, still wrapped in an original silver aluminum wire cord. Accompanying the sabreis its period original scabbard, constructed of a curved and black-painted magnetic magnetic metal shaft. The upper part of the shaft features an integral band connecting to a suspension ring for attachment to a hanger. The throat retains a functional spring catch, securely holding the sabre in place during storage, and is secured together with dual side rivets. Also accompanying the sabre is an Ordnungspolizei portepee, consisting of a stylized silver aluminum wire acord suspended from a field-grey leather strap, in turn flanked by machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire tresses. The portepee measures 420 mm in total length. In addition to the loosened insignia, issues consistent with age and moderate dress usage are evident, and include minor oxidation to the blade with blunting of the tip, loss of finish to the nickel-silver plated features, some scratching to the scabbard, and minor wear of the portepee. The sabre is in an overall very fine condition.
An additional shipping charge may be applicable following the time of purchase due to size, weight, and quantity. Please note that swords cannot be shipped via Canada Post Flat Tracked method.
