Germany, Wehrmacht. A Spanish Cross for Next of Kin, Spanish-Made, c. 1960

(Ehrenkreuz für Hinterbliebene Deutscher Spanienkämpfer). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with Spanish-style buckle and pinback, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with pebbled arms joined together through the quadrants by droptrail-style Luftwaffe eagles clutching mobile swastikas, bearing a central raised mobile swastika situated within dual rings, the reverse stamped with a silver content number of “900”, measuring 41.35 mm (w) x 41.13 mm (h), weighing 17.5 grams, the buckle’s catch has broken off and demonstrates evidence of previous repair, a Spanish-made example in better than very fine condition.
