Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by Frank & Reif

(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch emanating from a rectangular plate, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Frank & Reif, Stuttgart, measuring 42.15 mm (w) x 60.16 mm (h), weighing 33.7, a superb example retaining virtually all of its original finish, in extremely fine condition.
