Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Badges

(Abzeichen). A mixed lot of badges, including:

1. A Silver Grade Wound Badge, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “127” for Moritz Hausch, Pforzheim, measuring 36.72 mm (w) x 44.45 mm (h), weighing 24.6 grams, demonstrating total loss of silver finish throughout, in very fine condition.

2. A Sturmabteilung (SA) Sports Badge, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, surrounding a central mobile swastika, overlaid by a sword, the reverse the reverse with a square hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “PETZ U. LORENZ, U. REICHENBACH”, measuring 44.64 mm (w) x 57.13 mm (h), weighing 15.7 grams, demonstrating minor loss of finish, a Type III badge by an uncommon manufacturer in near extremely fine condition.

3. A DRL Sports Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, surrounding central stylized initials “DRL”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “H. WERNSTEIN, JENA-LÖBSTEDT”, measuring 39.00 mm (w) x 48.52 mm (h), weighing 16.9 grams, in extremely fine condition.
