Germany, Wehrmacht. A Lot Of Wound Badges, All Grades

(Verwundetenabzeichen). A mixed lot of three Wound Badges, including:

1. A first pattern Black Grade award, constructed of a blackened zink alloy, the obverse consisting of a scalloped oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an elongated crimped barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 37.68 mm (w) x 43.47 mm (h), weighing 8.7 grams, with minor oxidation and loss of finish evident, in very fine condition.

2. A Silver Grade award, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “65” for Klein & Quenzer, Idar-Oberstein, measuring 36.67 mm (w) x 43.93 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux dark brown leather liner, the interior with a slotted maroon felt medal bed, unmarked, measuring 65 mm (w) x 65 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), the badge demonstrates moderate loss of finish and some oxidation while the case shows material fatigue which includes detachment of the lid, in overall very fine condition.

3. A Gold Grade award, constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field,the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, with a central depression bearing an LDO maker’s code of “L24” for Fritz Zimmermann, Stuttgart, measuring 37.02 mm (w) x 44.23 mm (h), weighing 16.3 grams, with most of the gilt finish lost, a rare variation in very fine condition.
