A small civilian-issue NSDAP golden party badge; in gilded tombac and red, white, and black enamels; with the member number “24479” and maker marked “Jos. Fuess, München” on the reverse; horizontal pinback; measuring 24.14 mm in diameter; weighing 7.7 grams; extremely fine condition with nearly all of the original gilding present, with the enamels extremely well preserved.
Footnote: Edmund Hohmann was born on May 15, 1858 in Schwabach near Nuremberg. He joined the NSDAP on December 14, 1935, and received membership number 24479, awarding him the Golden Party Badge, which he received on January 10, 1934. He worked as a musical director in a church in Ansbach approximately 40 kilometers from Nuremberg. He later moved to Pasing with his family, today a district of Munich. He was a personal friend of the famous composer Richard Wagner, and died on February 14, 1935. His wife, Ina Hohmann, was born on July 10, 1867 or 1868 (sources differ) in Straubing near Regensburg, and joined the NSDAP on the same day as her husband as member number 24480, and also received a Golden Party Badge, as did their daughter, Hedwig Hohmann. She was born on march 7, 1895 in Ansbach, receiving the member number 24481. She worked as a private teacher, and was part of the Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt (National Socialist People’s Welfare) and the Reichskulturkammer (Reich Chamber of Culture).
