(Deutsches Kreuz in Gold). Constructed of gilded and silvered cupal with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a double-overlaid eight-pointed starburst, bearing a central silvered disc overlaid by a raised and black enameled mobile swastika, situated within a circular gilded laurel leaf wreath, wrapped in ribbon and joined together at the bottom by a plaque bearing an institution date of “1941”, with red enameled rings trimming both the inner and outer borders of the wreath, the reverse with four blasted rivets securing the obverse features in position, with a barrel hinge emanating from a rectangular baseplate and tapering vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch emanating from an oblong baseplate, the reverse maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “134” for Otto Klein, Hanau, measuring 63.04 mm (w) x 63.16 mm (h), weighing 46.1 grams, demonstrating minor surface cracking and chipping to the enamels, in addition to some loss of finish to the base metal, a classic Klein example demonstrating the characteristic die flaws of C.F. Zimmermann, in better than very fine condition.
