Germany, Federal Republic. An Order of the German Eagle. V. Class Cross with Swords, Spanish Version, c. 1960

(Deutscher Adlerorden, Kreuz V. Klasse mit Schwertern). Instituted May 1st, 1937. (c. 1960 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze and white enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms with NSDAP-style German National eagles clutching a wreathed mobile swastika on white enameled discs in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, overlaid across the three and nine o’clock arms with crossed swords, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an oak leaf culminating in a suspension ring, suspended from a correct modern replacement ribbon, measuring 46.3 mm (w) x 46.4 mm (l), weighing 21.82 grams, a Spanish-made example issued to nationals honoured by the Third Reich, in extremely fine condition.
