(Panzerkampfabzeichen mit Einsatzzahl “50”). Post May 1945 manufacture - c. 1970 issue. Constructed of silvered and patinated white metal, the obverse consisting of an oak wreath, joined together at the base by a plaque bearing a raised number “50” overlaid by a central Panzer rolling over logs, with its left track extending beyond the wreath, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse Panzer in place, with a sheet metal hinge, vertical round wire pinback, and right-ward opening flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 46.9 mm (w) x 62.1 mm (l), weighing 36.69 grams, in near mint condition.
Footnote: Rudolf Souval was a predominant manufacturer of medals, awards, and badges during the Second World War. Following the end of the war in Europe in May 1945, Rudolf Souval continued manufacturing certain awards using wartime parts and dies for American G.I’s stationed in Europe.
