Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of the Black Eagle, Breast Star by C.F. Rothe, c. 1965

(Schwarzer-Adler-Orden, Bruststern). Instituted 17 January 1701 by King Friedrich I. (1701-1918 issue; c. 1965 reissue). Constructed of silver with gilt and multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of vaulted eight-pointed radiant starburst, bearing a central golden-yellow enameled medallion, overlaid by a black enameled Prussian imperial eagle, surrounded by a white enameled ring, overlaid by a raised and gilded inscription of “SUUM CUIQUE” (“TO EACH HIS OWN”) and by green enameled laurel branches, in turn situated within ribbed silver rings, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering flattened pinback meeting a rounded catch, the pinback maker marked “C.F. ROTHE, WIEN”, with a silver content number of “925”, measuring 87.03 mm (w) x 84.07 mm (h), weighing 75.0 grams, a superb exhibition example demonstrating Rothe’s noted jeweller quality in extremely fine condition.
