Prussia, Kingdom. A War Remembrance Cross 1914-1918 for Fighters

(Kriegserinnerungskreuz für Kämpfer). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension, presents as a Maltese Cross with enamelled swords crossing at the center, obverse depicts a crowned multi-coloured Prussian eagle at the centre surrounded by a black enamelled ring with an inscription of “PREUSSENS TAPFEREN KRIEGERN” (“Prussia’s Brave Warriors”) in golden text, while obverse presents a central inscription of “1914-1918” in golden text on a white background within a black ring bearing the inscription “PREUSSISCHES KRIEGS ERINNERUNGS KREUZ” (“Prussian War Remembrance Cross”) in golden text, the reverse left and right arms of the cross bear the inscription “WELT KRIEG” (“World War”) in golden text while the top and bottom arms depict gold oak leaves, unmarked, measuring 38.6 mm (w) x 44.6 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), enamel wear, in very fine condition.
