Germany, Third Reich. A State Forestry Service Brocade and Buckle

(Staatsforst Paradeldfeldbine). A State Forestry Service brocade and buckle, the latter constructed of field-grey wool with a rigid buckram core, topped on the obverse with a layer of silver aluminum wire, in turn bearing dual machine-embroidered dark green tresses, one end stitched into a loop for the accommodation of an integral aluminum loop, the opposite end stitched into a loop for the accommodation of a buckle, similarly constructed of aluminum, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, surrounding a central raised German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a catch, both the belt and buckle unmarked, the former measuring 4.5 (w) x 100 cm (l), the buckle measuring 55 mm (w) x 50 mm (h), minor material fatigue is visible throughout the wool base of the brocade and partially exposes the buckram core, while the reverse of the buckle demonstrates extensive oxidation and tarnishing (which has not penetrated through to the obverse), a scarce set in very fine condition.
