(Militärischer Haus Ritter Orden vom Heiligen Georg). Instituted March 20th, 1729. (c. 1910). In 18kt fine Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with a Gold frame and arms completing in ball finials, the obverse with blue enameled arms trimmed with white enameled borders, joined together in the quadrants by blue and white enameled rhombuses bearing the initials “V.I.B.I.” (Virgini Immaculatae Bavaria Immaculata - The Immaculate Virgin of Bavaria), bearing a central Gold medallion overlaid by a raised depicting of the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child, the reverse with red enameled arms trimmed with white enameled borders, joined through the quadrants by blue and white enameled rhombuses bearing the initials “I.V.P.F” (In Fide Justitia et Fortitudine - In Faith, Justice, and Strength), bearing a central Gold medallion bearing a raised depicting of St. George slaying a dragon, set within a circular laurel leaf wreath, the 12 o’clock arm topped by an integral loop accommodating an intricate Gold and enameled suspension device consisting of a fleur-de-lis suspended from the mouth of a double-sided lion’s head, in turn culminating in a suspension loop retaining a full length period-original replacement neck ribbon, marked with an import mark on the suspension ring, measuring 51.9 mm (w) x 51.8 mm (l) not including its intricate suspension, weighing 49.12 grams, a rare and striking example of the order in near mint condition.
