Württemberg, Kingdom. A Friedrich Order, Civil Division, I Class Knight’s Cross in Gold with Case, by Eduard Foehr

(Friedrichs-Orden Ritterkreuz I. Klasse in Gold). Instituted 1 January 1830 by King Wilhelm I. (1856-1918 issue). Constructed of 18K Gold with enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms joined through the quadrants by stylized rays, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a Gold monogram of King Wilhelm I, situated within a Gold ring, the reverse bearing an analogous medallion and monogram similarly situated within a Gold ring, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a suspension ring retaining a period original tri-fold ribbon, unmarked, measuring 35.59 mm (w) x 40.15 mm (h), weighing 15.9 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the lid featuring a gilt frame, the interior featuring a maroon satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former bearing a maker’s mark of “EDUARD FOEHR, KÖNIGL. HOFJUWELIER, STUTTGART”, with a fitted and retractable maroon velvet medal bed, measuring 60 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 24 mm (h), a striking example demonstrating jeweller craftsmanship using highest-quality materials, in near mint condition.
