Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Grand Duchy. A War Service Cross, I Class

(Kreuz für Auszeichnungen im Kriege I. Klasse). Instituted 1 January 1915 by Grand Duke Adolf Friedrich VI. (1915-1923 issue). Constructed of a silvered alloy, consisting of a vaulted Cross Pattée, the obverse with ribbed arms, bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR TAPFERKEIT” (“FOR BRAVERY”) on a pebbled field, situated within a circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, the six o’clock arm bearing a date of “1914”, unmarked, measuring 40.10 mm (w) x 40.08 mm (h), weighing 14.4 grams, demonstrating minor loss of silver finish to high-contact points, in near extremely fine condition.
