Hesse, Grand Duchy. A Medal Bar for Bravery and Merit

(Ordensschnalle). A Hesse medal bar featuring two decorations, including:

1. A General Honour Decoration, constructed of silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central wreathed inscription of “FÜR TAPFERKEIT” (“FOR BRAVERY”), unmarked, measuring 33.25 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.

2. A War Merit Medal, constructed of silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward-facing profile of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central wreathed inscription of “FÜR KRIEGSVERDIENST” (“FOR WAR MERIT”), unmarked, measuring 33.37 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.

Both suspended from a 75 mm-long trapezoidal magnetic metal bar with a horizontal pinback and maroon wool reverse liner, unmarked, in extremely fine condition.
