(Orden Philipps des Großmütigen, Bruststern zum Komturkreuz). Instituted on 1 May 1840 by Grand Duke Ludwig II. Type II. (1849-1918 Issue). A silver cross pattée with white-enamelled arms, centre obverse presents a left-facing golden bust of Philip over a blue-enamelled field, circumscribed by a white-enamelled ring, bordered and set in Gold, bearing the inscription SI DEUS NOBISCUM QUIS CONTRA NOS (IF GOD IS FOR US WHO CAN BE AGAINST US), reverse centre presents a principle pin assembly, measuring 59.20 mm (w) x 59.58 mm (h), weighing 39.4 grams, and extremely fine.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
