(Auszeichnungen). A pair of decorations for First World War service, including:

1. A Baden Cross for Voluntary War Aid 1914-1916, constructed of gilded bronze, on a replacement loop for suspension, consisting of a Cross Pattée with finely pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central raised Geneva Cross, the three and nine o’clock arms bearing dates “1914-1916”, the six o’clock bearing a Baden coat of arms, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse bearing a central raised monogram of Grand Duke Friedrich II, unmarked, measuring 39.18 mm (w) x 43.17 mm (h), weighing 21.4 grams, in very fine condition.

2. A German Field Honour Badge, constructed of silvered and gilded bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of an elongated eight-pointed radiant star, the obverse bearing a central oval medallion overlaid by a raised German soldier in Stahlhelm and full field gear, surrounded by a pebbled gilt border, in turn forming the centrepiece of a white enameled Cross Pattée with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse applique in place, etched with an inscription of “DEUTSCHES FELD-EHRENZEICHEN” (“GERMAN FIELD HONOUR BADGE”), with a block hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, marked “HAMBURG 11”, measuring 52.50 mm (w) x 63.97 mm (h), weighing 30.6 grams, with minor cracking and loss of finish visible to the enamels and base metal, respectively, in addition to some bending of the catch, in very fine condition.
