Germany, Imperial. A Hussar Officer’s Sabretache

(Säbeltasche). An extremely well-preserved Hussar Officer’s sabretache, constructed of two pieces of pressed and reinforced red leather, with the exterior panel overlaid by red felt, in turn bearing a machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm II, set within an ornate tresse of identical construction, topped by three black leather straps, each adjusted with gilded bronze lion head buckles with prongs meeting five eyelets for fully adjustable suspension, measuring 270 mm (w) x 320 mm (h) overall, with minor material fatigue evident to high-contact points of the leather panel and small patches of mothing visible to the upper left of the felt liner, in overall near extremely fine condition.
