Germany, Imperial. A First World War Patriotic Plaque

(Patriotische Gedenktafel zum Ersten Weltkrieg). Constructed of a lacquered dark brown wooden base, the obverse riveted with a silvered bronze plate consisting of a central raised profile of Heer soldier wearing a Stahlhelm (with decal and collar tabs approximately to Reichswehr and Wehrmacht periods), situated above a 1914 Iron Cross, topped by a German national eagle clutching an additional miniature 1914 Iron Cross in its beak, in turn perched on a laurel leaf branch wrapped around a Stahlhelm, the reverse with three visible rivets securing the plate in position, riveted with a magnetic metal suspension ring, unmarked, measuring 22.5 cm (w) x 41 cm (h), demonstrating a consistent patina and minor loosening of the plate, a striking example of patriotica echoing the sacrifice of Germany’s First World War combatants in extremely fine condition.
