(Dannebrogordenen). Instituted in 1671 by Christian V. in silver, a stylized concave Latin Cross with etched patterns-body, exhibiting a delicate gilded outside edge together with an interior enamelled red border, obverse presenting central crowned letter W for King Waldemar II monogram, accompanying by gilt letters OG GUD KON GEN (God and the King), reverse with dual prong pin, marked on reverse with crowned AM makers mark denoting A Michelsen manufacture, measures 59.0mm (w) x 75.0mm (h), weighs 65.5 grams, toned silver, intact enamels and minimal gilt loss, a lovely decoration in extremely fine condition.
Contained in its case of issue, red leatherette exterior marked with a crowned D on the lid, the interior features a white silk lid marked A. MICHELSEN KJOBENHAVN, with a red velvet recessed medal bed in the base, measures 77.5mm (w) x 108mm (l) x 25.5mm (d), wear to exterior, hinge and clasp functional, remains in near extremely fine condition.
