(Dannebrogordenen). Instituted in 1671. Frederick IX (1947-1972). A lovely Grand Cross set, consisting of a sash badge, in silver gilt an oblong Latin Cross exhibiting finely enamelled white arms with red borders, with royal crowns in each quadrant, the obverse center presents the royal cipher of Christian V, with the inscription GUD OG KONGEN (GOD AND THE KIND) on its arms, the reverse center displays the crowned W, with the crowned F VI on the twelve o’clock arm, the dates 1219, 1671, and 1808 appear on the other arms, surmounted by the royal cipher of Frederick IX crowned with the distinctive Danish royal crown, marked on the R of the suspension and suspension ring with a swan punch denoting silver composition, imported from countries without trading contract to France since 1893, measures 42 (w) x 81 mm (h - inclusive of crown suspension), weighs 31.54 grams, worn on original full length red and white silk sash badge, gilt wear throughout, enamels pristine, in extremely fine condition.
The Star of the Order, in silver, featuring an eight point star with clusters of seven smooth rays with braided edges, the superimposed silver gilt oblong Latin Cross on the obverse center exhibiting finely enamelled white arms with red borders, the obverse center presents the royal cipher of Christian V, with the inscription GUD OG KONGEN (GOD AND THE KIND) on its arms, the reverse presenting a dual pronged pinch pin, with four rivets on the base to secure the obverse cross, marked on the reverse with the swan punch mark denoting silver composition, imported from countries without trading contract to France since 1893, marked AM near catch denoting manufacturer by Anton Michelson, measures 84 mm (w) x 80 mm (h), weighs 57.2 grams, dark patina on rays, areas of gilt wear, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition.
