Description
Description
A well-preserved Czechoslovak M29 steel helmet, constructed of a black-painted magnetic metal shell. The crown of the helmet features a polished die cast magnetic metal comb, secured in place with rivets at both the front and bank. Four large rivets are distributed evenly across the circumference, securing in place the interior features, with two additional smaller side rivets accommodating a chinstrap. Affixed to the peak of the helmet is a silvered bronze insignia in the form of a Czechoslovak coat of arms, flanked by linden leaves and set over an axe. The peak insignia measures 55 mm (w) x 48 mm (h). The edge of the helmet is crimped inward, allowing for a smooth finish. A magnetic metal band fully lines the circumference of the interior, secured in place with the aforementioned exterior rivets, and accommodates an original black leather liner, itself transitioning into eight flaps. Each flap is perforated with six ventilation holes, with an additional hole at each tip through which is looped a period original drawstring. Dual magnetic metal side loops retain a period original black leather chinstrap, itself adjusted with a functional magnetic metal buckle. The helmet is fully unmarked and measures 230 mm (w) x 270 mm (l) x 155 mm (h). While well-preserved, it demonstrates some issues consistent with age and use, including oxidation of the insignia, loss of paint to the shell, and material fatigue to the leather elements. It is in an overall very fine condition.
