Croatia, Independent State. An Order Of King Zvonimir's Crown, Civil Division, I Class Star, By Griesbach & Knaus C.1942

(Red krune kralja Zvonimira). Instituted in 1941. NDH Issue. A multiple-rayed eight-armed star in typical Croatian die stamped frosted silver, the obverse centrepiece in silver gilt consisting of an enameled white stylized Croatian trefoil cross, with a cross formed in traditional Croatian wattle pattern in gilt exhibiting through the arms, obverse entre presenting the Crown of Zvonimir on an enameled white background, reverse with a horizontal principal pinback, marked by Serbian hallmarked with a bird surmounted by the letter "B" (for Belgrade) with the Roman numeral "II" (for 900 silver purity) within a pentagon, the star’s reverse is marked by "GK" (for Griesbach and Knaus), along with official NDH hallmark, as well as Serbian hallmark with a woman's head with the Roman numeral "II" (for 900 silver) to her left and by a "B" (for Belgrade) to her right within an oval, measuring 69.55 mm (w) x 71.49 mm (h), presenting light contact for wearing, with intact enamels, near mint.

Footnote: The Order of the Crown of King Zvonimir was an order awarded by the Independent State of Croatia (NDH). It was established by Croatian leader Ante Pavelić on May 17, 1941, as a "visible sign of decoration for merits done, in peace or in war, for Croatian people and the Independent State of Croatia"; awarded for merit and bravery.
