Bulgaria, Kingdom. An Order of Saint Alexander, III. Class Commander, c.1920

(Орден "Свети Александър"). Instituted December 25th, 1881. Type II, A fine quality jeweller-made example of this award, constructed of gilded silver, the obverse consisting of a green enamelled Cross Pattée with vaulted arms with a central red enamelled medallion bearing a golden rampant lion, surrounded by a band of white enamels inscribed with “СЪ НАМИ БОГЪ” (God with Us) in Bulgarian with laurels at the base, the reverse with a central white enamelled medallion inscribed “19 ФЕВРАЛЬ 1878” (February 19th, 1878), on a hollow swivel crown for suspension from a replacement neck ribbon, measuring 51.7 mm (w) x 51.9 mm (l), weighing 39.45 grams, with repairs to the enamels on the reverse of the 9 o’clock arm, in better than very fine condition.
