Austria, Second Republic. An Order of Leopold, II. Class Commander with War Decoration, Exhibition Example, by Rothe & Neffe, c. 1980

(Kaiserlich-Österreichischer Leopold Orden). Instituted January 7th, 1808. (c. 1980 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze, consisting of a red and white enamelled cross, the obverse medallion presenting the inscription “FIA” surrounded by a white ring inscribed “Integritati et Merito”, the reverse medallion featuring a white field inscribed “opes Regum Cora Subdito Rum” with the inscription surrounded by a gilded oak wreath, the cross suspended from a large crown with an interior red enamelled cap and green enamelled wreath below the band with waving pendilia on each side, accompanied by a correct modern neck ribbon, unmarked but showing the typical manufacturing characteristics of Rothe & Neffe in Vienna, measuring 40.6 mm (w) x 40.9 mm (l), in near mint example.
