Unveiling of the Holy Roman Empress Maria Theresa Monument at Vienna by Franz Joseph I Commemorative Table Medal 1888 (in bronze, marked "MADE IN AUSTRIA" and maker marked "MÜNZAMT WIEN" on the edge, obverse illustrating the right-facing bust of Holy Roman Empress Maria Theresa, surrounded by the German inscription "DER KAISERIN KÖNIGIN MARIA THERESIA" (The Emperor Queen Maria Theresa) and engraver marked "A. SCHARFF" below the bust, reverse illustrating a large monument with Maria Theresa at the top, with four figures below and flanked by men on horseback, surrounded by the German inscription "SEINER GROSSEN VORGÄNGERIN ERRICHTET VON FRANZ JOSEPH I." (The Monument Was Dedicated by Franz Joseph I in Honour of His Great Predecessor) and inscribed "ENTHÜLLT AM 13. MAI 1888" (Unveiled on May 13, 1888), measuring 64.3 mm in diameter); and Coronation of Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II at Frankfurt Commemorative Table Medal 1764 (in bronze, obverse illustrating the right-facing bust of Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II, son of Holy Roman Empress Maria Theresa, inscribed in Latin "DOMINE SALVUM" at the left and "FAC. REGEM. P.S: XIX. V. 10." at the right, engraver marked "KRAFFT F", maker marked "H.M.A" and the minting date "1914" below the bust, reverse illustrating Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II surrounded by twelve figures at his Coronation at Frankfurt on April 3, 1764, engraver marked "KRAFFT F" and inscribed in Latin "JOSEPHUS II. ARCHID: AUST: ELECT: ET CORON: ROM: REX FRANCOF: ANNO. 1764." below the scene, measuring 50.5 mm in diameter). Together, near extremely fine.

This offering is a part of the "Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection", a preeminent assemblage of world Orders, Medals, and Decorations composed solely by Dr.Goodwin between 1946-1967. Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps. He acted as both President and Vice-President of the Orders and Medals Society of America (OMSA) and is responsible for organizing their first convention in 1960. He maintained further membership with the American Society of Military Collectors, the International Orders Research Society, and the American Numismatic Society.
