Austria, Imperial. An Order of the Knights of Malta, Commander Cross Neck Badge, by Rothe, c.1920

Instituted in 1099. In Silver gilt, a maltese cross in white enamel, Habsburg eagles in each quadrant, the reverse is silver gilt with decorative arms topped by a highly decorative Imperial crown, surmounted by a trophy of arms suspension with red and white enamels, measures 51.6 mm (w) x 125 mm (h - include trophy suspension), weighs 60.3 grams, accompanied by a full length black neck ribbon, enamel damage to the 6 and 9 o’clock arms, otherwise in extremely fine condition.

Accompanied by a boutonniere with a small silver and enamel maltese cross device.

Contained in the original case of issue, a burgundy leatherette exterior with a maltese cross on the lid, the interior lid marked ROTHE denoting manufacturer, black velvet recessed medal bed with ribbon section above, measures 97 mm (w) x 170 mm (h
