Austria, Imperial. A Merit Cross 1849, III Class and Bravery Medal, I Class

Instituted December 2 1849. A Merit Cross, III Class with Crown, in silver, a red enamelled cross featuring a large central medallion bearing the initials FJ, the reverse bearing the date 1849, cross surmounted by a crown with interior red enamelled cap, measures 36 mm (w) x 58.3 mm (h - inclusive of cross adorned ball suspension), marked on the ring with A denoting Vienna manufacture and WK  and KUNZ WIEN denoting manufacturer by Wilhelm Kunz, worn on the original trifold red and white silk ribbon, dark patina, enamels intact, in very fine condition.

Instituted July 19 1789. Type VIII (1914-1917). A I Class Silver Medal, in silver, the obverse features the best of Franz Joseph, the reverse bears the inscription DER TAPFERKEIT encircled by a wreath, measures 40 mm in diameter, worn the original red and white silk trifold ribbon, light wear, dark patina around edges, in very fine condition.
