Austria, Empire. A Lot of Two Honor Decorations of the Red Cross (Silver Medal with War Decoration / Bronze Medal), c. 1918

(Ehrenzeichen vom Roten Kreuz). Instituted August 14th, 1914. (c. 1918 issue). A lot of two Imperial Austrian Honour Decorations of the Red Cross, consisting of:

1. An Honour Decoration of the Red Cross, Silver Medal with Honour Decoration, consisting of an oval silver medal with a green enameled partial laurel and oak wreath along the outside edge of the decoration, the obverse with dual angels holding a multi-enameled crest with the inscription “Patriae ac Humanitati” in capitalized Latin lettering, the reverse with the two dates “1864” and “1914” centrally, suspended from an affixed loop and swivel ring using its period original (faded) tri fold ribbon, maker marked “SS”, as well as hallmarked “A” for Vienna, and with the “2 Diana’s Head” hallmark for .900 silver purity, measuring 36.3 mm (w) x 48.5 mm (l), weighing 30.57 grams inclusive of it ribbon, the enamels on the wreath extremely well preserved, in overall near extremely fine condition. 

2. An Honour Decoration of the Red Cross, Bronze Medal, consisting of an oval bronze medal, the obverse with dual angels holding a multi-enameled crest with the inscription “Patriae ac Humanitati” in capitalized Latin lettering, the reverse with the two dates “1864” and “1914” centrally, suspended from an affixed loop and swivel ring using its period original ribbon, measuring 35.3 mm (w) x 48.1 mm (l), weighing 22.97 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
