                          Description
A lot of four imperial Austrian medals, awards, and decorations, consisting of:
1. A Bravery Medal. (Tapferkeitsmedaille). Instituted July 19th, 1789. (Karl I Variant). A circular silver medal, the obverse depicting the rightward facing profile of Karl I, circumscribed by his name and title in Latin, the reverse inscribed “Fortitudini” (Fortitude) within a laurel wreath with dual crossed flags at the base, on a loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, unmarked, measuring 40.3 mm in diameter, weighing 20.17 grams, with pleasant dark patina from age and wear, in near extremely fine condition.
2. A Military Merit Medal “Signum Laudis”. (Militärverdienstmedaille). Instituted March 12th, 1890. A circular gilded bronze medal, the obverse depicting the rightward facing bust of Franz Joseph, circumscribed by his name and title in Latin, the reverse inscribed “Signum Laudis” within a partial laurel and oak leaf wreath, suspended from a partially hollow swivel crown using its period original ribbon with a single War Decoration Clasp for the second award, unmarked, measuring 31.5 mm in diameter, weighing 18.10 grams, in better than very fine condition.
3. A Merit Cross “1849” IV. Class. (Verdienstkreuz “1849”). Instituted December 2nd, 1849. (Third Period: 1914-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with red enamels, consisting of a Ruppert Cross with red enameled arms, the obverse with a central medallion bearing a central gilt monogram of Franz Joseph I, circumscribed by an inscription of “Viribus Unitis” (United Forces) in capitalized Latin, the reverse with a central medallion bearing the institution year of “1849”, on an affixed loop and swivel ring for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, marked “Vincent M. Söhne, Wien” on the loop, measuring 29.5 mm (w) x 33.2 mm (l), weighing 6.38 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
4. A Scarce Medal of the 100th Anniversary of the Hungarian Uprising (1848). Instituted on July 16th, 1948. (c. 1948 issue). A circular bronze medal, the obverse with the profile of Sandor Petofi, circumscribed by his name, the reverse bearing the Hungarian Coat of Arms and inscribed “1848-1958”, suspended from an affixed suspension device consisting of dual enameled Hungarian flags with the number “100” within a green enameled laurel wreath, on dual loops for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, unmarked, measuring 34.8 mm in diameter, weighing 24.14 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
