(Österreichische St. Georgs Orden). Instituted January 1, 1469. A cased Habsburg Order of Saint George Grand Cross Set, consisting of:
1. A breast star, consisting of a multi-faceted eight-pointed star with multiple quills between the arms of the star, the obverse features a red enameled Greek Cross with a round central white enameled medallion bearing a gilded Saint George on a horse slaying a dragon, the reverse plain, with a raised barrel hinge, vertical pinback, and round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 85.4 mm (w) x 85.2 (l), weighing 59.43 grams, in near extremely fine condition.
2. A sash badge, constructed of silver gilt, suspended from a flat hollow crown with red, white, and blue enamels and a broad elongated swivel loop for suspension from its full size period original sash ribbon, consisting of a red enameled Greek Cross with a round central white enameled medallion bearing a gilded Saint George on a horse slaying a dragon within a gilded bronze ring, the reverse with a matching white enameled central medallion inscribed “Deus et Patria” (God and Country) in capital gilt letters, measuring 90.3 mm (l) x 56.0 mm (w), in extremely fine condition.
3. Accompanied by a boutonniere and a miniature of the award on a miniature full-size ribbon, very fine.
