Westphalia, Kingdom; Waldeck, Principality. An Order of St. Philip and the Lion of Limburg, Knight and a Waldeck Order of Merit, IV Class

(Orden Sankt Phillipps zum Löwen). Instituted in 1700 by the Counts of Limburg Stirum. In silver gilt and enamels, featuring a white enameled Maltese cross with ball finials, with fine quality green enameled laurel wreaths in each quadrant, obverse centre bearing the Lion of Limburg, circumscribed “Beneficencia Et Virtute” (With the Benefit of Virtue) in Gold lettering, the arms of the cross are inscribed with the letters “HSCW” for “Henricus, Sigismunds, Carolus, Wenzeslaus", reverse with an additional blue enamelled centre medallion inscribed “Bene merentibus”, with a fleur de lis horizontally pierced round loop suspension, measuring 41.5 mm (w) x 44.6 mm (h), weighs 17.0 grams, missing ribbon, enamel chips on the arms, lovely toning to silver, near very fine. 

(Silberne Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern). Instituted on 26 September 1878 by Prince George Victor. A round medal constructed of silver, the obverse shows the monogram GV (Georg Viktor) in Fraktur style under a ducal crown, the reverse centre presents the inscription “FÜR VERDIENST,” crossed silver swords, measuring 30.3 mm (w) x 43 mm (h - inclusive of crossed swords suspension), weighs 15.7 grams, missing ribbon, very fine.
