(Luftwaffe Wehrpaß). Constructed of a field-grey card stock binding with 54 paginated interior pages filled with handwritten and stamped entries to “KARL VACHNIK”, retaining a certified studio portrait of the bearer in the uniform of a Feldwebel, issued on 29 August 1940, measuring 10.5 cm (w) x 14.5 cm (h), the interior pages have detached from the binding and some material fatigue is evident, in very fine condition.
Footnote: Karl Vachnik was born on 23 November 1895 in Brunn (Brunn am Gebirge, Austria-Hungary and saw service in the First World War through 1917. He returned to service with the Wehrmacht following the Anschluss, becoming available as a conscript on 21 September 1938. He attained the rank of Feldwebel der Reserve on 1 April 1940, performing staff duties in the Vienna district. Vachnik was released from service on 30 September 1940, with a discharge allowance of RM 50.
