In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
(Heer Mantel für einen Obergefreiter). A well-preserved Heer Obergefreiter’s greatcoat, constructed of field-grey wool. It features a turned-down collar which is topped by a layer of dark green wool cloth, and which features a reverse integral strap for flush closure against the elements. The shoulders are topped by straps which are constructed of dark green wool and trimmed with black piping, each measuring 45 mm (w) x 115 mm (l). Stitched onto the upper left arm is an Obergefreiter rank insignia consisting of a field grey wool backer bearing two silver-grey threaded chevrons, measuring 90 mm (w) x 80 mm (h). The cuff of each sleeve is rolled up to a depth of 15 cm and secured in place with a piece of stitching. Two side pockets closing with diagonal flaps are set into the waistband, while an integral belt at the back of the coat closes with two pebbled metal buttons. The breasts fasten closed with six pebbled metal buttons on each side meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the opposite flap. The interior features a partial grey cotton liner with a single pocket located at the upper left breast. A partially-legible maker’s mark for a Köln-based firm is visible just above the pocket, along with size dimensions and a manufacture date of “M39”. The greatcoat measures approximately 45 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 58 cm, and an overall length of 110 cm. Moderate soiling and material fatigue is evident throughout, the latter resulting in hand-stitched repairs by the owner. It remains in an overall very fine condition.
