El Salvador, Republic. A National Order of José Matías Delgado, Grand Cross Set in Case

(Orden Nacional de José Matias Delgado). Instituted in 1946. In silver gilt with blue and white enamels, blue-enameled cross with obverse gilt centerpiece depicting the profile of José Matías Delgado, with five emanating rays in each quadrant, reverse centerpiece reads HONOR A LOS PRÓCERES DE LAS INDEPENDENCIA SALVADOREÑA, measuring 41 mm (w) x 65 mm (h - including surmounting wreath), marked 905H on the suspension ring, white enamels on arms have been replaced, sewn directly on the a thick silk ribbon of the order, very fine.

Accompanied by the star of the order, featuring a toned silver multi-ray star with a white and blue enamel cross, centre featuring the profile of José Matías Delgado, reverse with central pin assembly, and cartouche "HONOR A LOS PROCERES DE LA INDEPENDENCIA SAL VADORENA", measuring 66.2 mm (w) x 66.3 mm (h), weighs 56.6 grams, marked 925 on the pin, areas with loss of silver finish, enamels intact, extremely fine.

Contained in the original case of issue, in blue padded leather on the lid inscribed REPUBLICA DE EL SALVADOR ORDEN JOSE MATIAS DELGADO, with blue board interior, measures 13 cm (w) x 28.5 cm (l) x 7.5 cm (d), two cloth ties to secure the lid closed, minor wear, extremely fine.
