(Albrechtsorden Komturkreuz I. Klasse in Gold). Instituted 31 December 1850 by King Friedrich August II. (1876-1918 issue). Constructed of 18K Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Latin Cross with white enameled arms joined through the quadrants by a green enameled oak leaf wreath, the obverse overlaid by a central white enameled medallion bearing a rightward-facing Gold profile of Duke Albert III, situated within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “ALBERTUS ANIMOSUS” (“ALBERT THE BOLD”) with arabesques, the reverse overlaid by a central white enameled medallion bearing a Gold and enameled Saxon coat of army, situated within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “1850” with arabesques, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an elaborate crown suspension which culminates in a loop and ring, retaining a period original full length of neck ribbon, unmarked, measuring 53.44 mm (w) x 91.33 mm (h), weighing 33.2 grams, demonstrating a small chip to the upper corner of the obverse three o’clock arm, with a fine crack visible to the reverse of the same arm, a striking example crafted from the highest-quality materials, in extremely fine condition.
